SFTP and FTP for S3-compatible storage

How it works

Connect your S3-compatible bucket
Paste your access key, secret and the provider's S3 endpoint URL into DocEvent, then choose the bucket. The endpoint URL is the only thing that differs between providers; everything after that is identical.

Create a user for each partner
Add an SFTP/FTPS/FTP user per partner or system, with a password or an SSH key and its own home directory. Lock it down with per-service IP allow and deny rules if you want it pinned to known addresses.

Hand over the hostname
Give them the DocEvent hostname and credentials. Files land in your bucket as they are uploaded, and every connection and transfer is recorded in the audit log.Prefer your own domain? Point a CNAME at the endpoint and partners connect to something like sftp.yourcompany.com instead.

Built for S3-Compatible Storage

Wasabi and Backblaze B2

Both expose S3-compatible endpoints and connect exactly like any other bucket. Worth noting when the reason you moved was cost: adding SFTP here does not reintroduce a per-protocol hourly charge.

MinIO and self-hosted

MinIO, Ceph, NetApp StorageGRID, Cloudian HyperStore and IBM Cloud Object Storage all work, including on-premises deployments — the one requirement is that DocEvent can reach the endpoint over HTTPS.

Only the endpoint URL changes

Because every provider here speaks the same API, moving between them is a credential and endpoint change rather than a migration of your file transfer setup. Users, home directories, firewall rules and the audit log carry over untouched.
