Usage-based billing

How data transfer, operations and storage are measured against your plan's included amounts, and what happens when you go over.
Updated August 27, 2026

Your plan includes a monthly allowance of three metered resources, shown with your current usage on the Account → Plan page:

  • Data transfer - bytes in and out of your services
  • Operations - the number of login, get and put operations executed
  • Storage - data held at rest by services that store data. Streaming services like the Simple FTP Service pass files straight through to your own bucket and use no DocEvent storage.

Going over the included amounts

What happens at the limit depends on your plan:

  • On the free plan, service stops working when an included amount is used up, until the next billing cycle.
  • On paid plans, usage beyond the included amounts is charged as overage, at the rates shown on the pricing page and on your Plan page. Overages accumulate during the cycle and are added to your next bill.

Keeping an eye on it

The Plan page's usage bars show each metric against its included amount for the current cycle. If you are regularly buying overage, a higher plan tier is usually cheaper - compare on the pricing page.
